In your internet marketing career there are many ways to make money online. Most experts (or gurus if you prefer) agree though,that the most effective and stable way to promote any of your products, either as an affiliate or your own, is to have your own website.

There are many different types of websites you can use to accomplish this. You can go the free route using such platforms as Blogger blogs, Squidoo lenses or Hubpages where you can get a free account set up and then just add your own unique content and promote that site.

In most cases using these types of social sites gives you a certain amount of free traffic and instant credibility, especially with the Google Gods, due to the fact that those sites already have a high page rank (PR) with Google. The main drawback to this is that your site can be there one day and gone the next. You are totally at the whims of whoever owns that site platform.

This can, however be a cheap way for a new marketer to get into the field with very little or no cost and get some much needed practice at the various skills needed to build web sites.

The other way, and in my humble opinion the best way, is to get your own domain name and host your own website. You won’t one day wake up and find your site gone into cyber-hell somewhere never to return and make you money again.

I use many different web site platforms.

I have static sites where you make your own pages using an HTML editor (long learning curve) and host them to your own host ( I use Hostgator and GoDaddy.com for my hosting and domain names, respectively). I also use Wordpress, not the free way, I just buy a domain and change my DNS to Hostgator and install the version of Wordpress that comes in my cpanel at Hostgator.

Using Wordpress to do my sites is easier than doing it with an HTML editor but I have found one way that is even more effective and easier in the long run to not only build a website but build a Web Business.

I use a program called Site Build It.

This program was the first one I used when I started building my own websites. It allowed me to build a Web Business that still brings in good money everyday with little maintenance.

The reason I also use other sites is because SBI is not right for all the different ways to make money online.

For instance, using SBI to build an authority site that you will grow into a main business is perfect, but for smaller mini sites that bring in Adsense income or the quick build affiliate sites for one product it is a little too powerful.

In other words I don’t need all the resources that SBI gives you to build and maintain these other sites.
