Hello and welcome to my Journal on how I am going to go from unemployed former wage slave to financial freedom by working online. In the upcoming months / years (hopefully) I am going to document my journey through the minefield of internet marketing.

I have chosen the term minefield not because if you make a misstep you will get blown to smithereens, no on the contrary, you want to fail as much as possible, as soon as possible, so you learn quicker what doesn’t work on the journey and concentrate your efforts on strategies that do work.

I chose the word minefield simply because, all too often, what stands in the way of successfully working your way through this maze is the tendancy of people (me included) to not take any action because you are afraid you will make a mistake and not get it right (in other words…get blown to smithereens).

The other reason people (again me included) fail is because they do not focus. I am doing this even right now. I should be concentrating on one main way to start making money online but instead I am posting to a blog about making money online, go figure. although I have to admit I do have an ulterior motive.

One of the key things I have learned online so far is, by helping other people, you actually help yourself.

Now think about that.

It is totally against human nature to think of someone else’s success before you think of yours, but in the IM field by doing this you help yourself in the long run. I have seen this being done time after time, by much more saavy marketers than I am. And I know it works.

Two examples come to mind off the top of my head.

Jennifer (AKA PotPieGirl)  is a work at home mom, she has a blog about her experiences in the internet marketing field and it is a must read for anyone just starting out (and for anyone else that wants some good information on all kinds of topics in the IM field).

The other person that really overdelivers and truly tries to help you in this confusing sea of bits and bytes is a work at home mom (to Hanna) named Jackie Lee. She is another one you want to really pay attention to. The been there and done that type that really lays it all out there for you. Her blog is at http://internetmarketingformommies.com/ .

She has a FREE guide that you can get on her blog called “Christmas Cash Blueprint”. It tells you exactly how you can use Squidoo to put up free lenses to promote hot selling Amazon products to make money with this Christmas. I am also doing this so I will be writing posts later on about how successful I was in that endeavor. All I can tell you about it now is that I am getting some traffic, and have been indexed in Google, but haven’t made any sales yet. But I haven’t done all the promotional stuff she tells you to do yet (instead I am sitting here writing this blog …told you about the focus issue).

The whole purpose of this blog is going to be to share my experiences and knowledge with you, loyal reader, as I go through this journey and quite possibly help you with some information I have learned and also help me by getting some kind of organization to this whole process in the bargain.
